Our Challenge
Nga Waka's new winery is all about delivering an immersive cellar door experience for visitors. The extensive use of natural timber lends a crafted feel to the building's design, which references and acknowledges the hand crafted yet complex nature of Nga Waka wine. The designer captured the brief perfectly, specifying Glulam to realise the right materiality. The sloped roofline nods to the Remutaka Ranges and exploits natural light.

The Techlam Solution
Techlam collaborated closely with the construction and engineering teams to deliver a fully prefabricated product complete with hardware. The finished structure blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape and the natural timber creates a warm atmosphere. The building is shortlisted for the NZIA Architecture Awards 2023, reflecting the hard work and dedication of all those involved - watch this space.
