“Construction projects on semi remote islands have many challenges and are often difficult to deliver within desired timeframes.
Both of our projects involved building large, timber “Bure” structures, with quite complex structural engineering components.
Our first project had the added challenge of carrying out construction within an operating Resort, and therefore having to minimise both build time and the impact on guests.
To achieve these outcomes, the Bure super structures for both projects were architecturally designed to be prefabricated and then shipped to the island and constructed on site.
Knowing that Techlam could supply the types and quality of timbers we needed, we approached them to assist with this unique methodology and they rose to the challenge.
From the complex shop drawings they needed to create, to the precision and quality of all the prefabricated components, Techlam excelled at every step.
They contributed valuable advice right from concept development, and they worked overtime to meet our deadlines at every stage.
Both projects were completed with significant savings in time and cost, whilst achieving a very high build quality in these stunning and unique Bure structures.
